I'm no expert but that's been my experience. Midday, good luck, likely down deep and under cover. Don't be afraid to experience with different types of retrieves, like with speed they might prefer twitching over stop-n-go, or straight over something else. If you see minnows leaping out of the water or splashes or other surface activity that means bass (and possibly pickerel) are feeding and so keep your lure or bait shallow depths and run them through those areas. Warm days during mornings they move into the shallows to feed on small fry and could potentially be caught anywhere in the lake. Speed is also a factor as you gain experience, sometimes they want to charge after a fast bait, sometimes a slow bait, especially early morning pre-dawn when visibility is poor. If going into the lily pads then take a slop spoon.Īnd like von Driesen also pointed out, silver and gold because different times/conditions means different colors are hotter. Middle of the day they're going to be under cover and chilling, most likely in lily pad areas and obstructions if you can find them. Also, when fishing for bass remember that they feed mainly during the morning hours and evening hours, regardless of what the feeding chart says for that day.
